The Patterns We Carry

While working on this piece, I kept thinking about how deeply our roots shape us. Which patterns would I weave into the rug of my own life? Do we get to choose them… or are some threads simply given to us?

I wish I could keep only what inspires me and those around me — but life isn’t that simple, is it?

This artwork carries the story of an Armenian ballerina, Karina Melikyan, who has woven her cultural threads into her movement and her craft with such grace. Watching how she honors her origins feeds my inspiration too.
